New Addition to the Collective: Welcoming Kate Carter
We are delighted to announce the expansion of the Indigo Thinking collective with the arrival of Kate Carter, who joins us as a Trainee Relational Integrative Psychotherapist (UKCP Trainee).
Kate brings a wealth of life experience and a specialist focus on Domestic Violence, Trauma, and PTSD, built upon 14 years of working as an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor. Her passion is clear: helping clients move from surviving to thriving.
Kate’s entry into the collective provides us with a valuable opportunity to talk openly about professional standards in the UK—a field where titles can often be confusing.
Kate is currently undertaking a Post-Graduate Diploma (PG Dip), following one of the longest and most rigorous training paths in the UK, leading to registration with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). This commitment to deep, long-term training at a Master’s level is a significant investment in her professional future and, more importantly, in the quality of care she offers.
Check out Kate’s page and get in touch with her to book a FREE initial consultation call.
The Commitment That Unites Our Collective
Kate’s joining might have highlighted a subtle but important difference which you might have noticed. Our collective members hold different titles such as ‘Counsellor’ and ‘Psychotherapist’, these titles relate to the different training pathways followed by the individual members. It is essential to understand that this does not mean one therapist is “better” than another.
At Indigo Thinking, every member is hand-picked because they demonstrate exceptional skill and operate at the highest echelon of practice in the voluntary, self-regulated profession.
Consistency is Key:
Shared Commitment:
As a pier, Kate’s intensive UKCP-aligned training is an asset that reinforces our collective commitment to excellence, depth, and the gold standard of care across the board.
We are incredibly proud to have Kate’s unique expertise and dedication to trauma recovery join our team, further strengthening our ability to serve the Middlesbrough area and beyond.

Types of Therapy: Relational Integrative Psychotherapy

In the UK, the counselling profession operates through a system of voluntary self-regulation. To ensure you receive ethical, quality care, all of our counsellors are registered with a professional body accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), for us that's the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy)
